Find Private investigators in Kentucky.

The question often arises, “how do I find the right private investigator in Kentucky for my case?” Finding a private investigator does not have to be a difficult undertaking if the right decisions are made beforehand. People sometimes will select an investigator based upon a big yellow pages advertisement or special discount offers. A large budget for advertisement may indeed indicate the agency is doing well, but it is certainly no guarantee you will receive professional service. In fact, many private investigators operating in Kentucky spend very little on Internet and yellow pages advertising as the majority of their business comes from word of mouth or repeat customers. Ask family and friends if they have had a positive experience with a local private investigator.

Once you have narrowed down the list of potential investigators, contact each and arrange for a face-to-face meeting to discuss the details of your case. It is customary to receive a short free initial consultation in the beginning. Ask the investigator how many years of experience he or she has in the area of investigation you are seeking. Will there be more than one investigator working your case? Do they hold the proper licensing, bonding and insurance? How long have they been operating as a private investigator in Kentucky?  Can they provide at least three referrals of previous clients? If possible try to obtain some information regarding the investigators education and training. Though it is not mandatory in every state, some degree of formal college education is a plus. Likewise, specific investigative training is desirable.

Meeting with the private investigator in person is recommended, but not mandatory in every case. It is quite possible to retain the service of a private investigator through the use of the telephone and fax. Meeting the private investigator face to face provides you an opportunity to judge the investigator based upon first impression. Is the investigator’s office disorderly and chaotic? Is the investigator wearing proper attire? Does the investigator speak clearly and communicate with clarity and intelligence? A sloppy office is a sure indication the case will be handled the same.

A good private investigator will in turn ask you a few questions. An ethical and thorough private investigator will avoid cases that may carry legal repercussions that may damage their reputation within the community. A private investigator will shy away from a case if they suspect an element of stalking or revenge that could spin out of control. Be prepared to explain the nature of the case and how the information gathered will be used once the case is over. Once you have decided upon the best private investigator in Kentucky for your case, don’t leave the office until you have a written contract that clearly states the amount you will pay and the type and amount of information you will receive in return. Do not hesitate to discuss the status of the case at any given time. It is your responsibility to see that the private investigator is pursuing the case according to your expectations.
